We are living in a time that is truly unprecedented and the world has never seen anything like what is happening these days. Of course, in the past century, we have been through numerous wars, including some world wars and we have seen a lot of hunger, disease and destruction that happened worldwide. Never before, however, has the entire world been shut down by a single event and that is exactly what happened with the coronavirus pandemic. It took the world completely by surprise and within a matter of weeks, everything had ground to a halt. It changed the way we live, and there are times when we might wonder if we’ll ever get back to life again.
When we go through difficult times like this, we often look for someone who can make us feel better about our situation and what is taking place. Lukas Nelson is somebody who has tried to fill that gap. As the son of Willie Nelson, he has a considerable amount of pull in the music industry. After all, his father is perhaps one of the best known country music singers of all time and people have been loving his music for decades. His son decided to go online and record a Paul Simon song, “Sound of Silence”. He dedicates it to New York and when he sings, you can hear his father coming out in his voice. It’s hauntingly beautiful.
The words to this song have been a comfort to many people and to some, it describes their lot in life that they may be facing during difficult times. That is why many find it to be an inspiration, and hearing Willie Nelson’s son sing it certainly produces that effect.
Eventually, we are going to see the other side of the coronavirus pandemic. Nobody knows what life is going to be like at that point but one thing is sure, we will find a way to deal with it in some way or another.
